About the Artist

Karen FieldingKaren was born in Providence, RI. She has early memories of being fascinated by the way light appeared to alter objects. At 17, she purchased her first 35 mm camera and there began her interest in black and white photography. Feeling the need for blue skies, Karen relocated to the Tampa Bay Area of Florida in the late 80s. It was there that her interest in photography and pottery  transformed into a passion. Karen found Florida becoming too busy and was dismayed at the rapid disappearance of the wild lands. She moved to Taos, NM in the Fall of 1999.

Karen and her artistic colleague, Pamala S. Dean developed  Dragonfly JourneysTaos Art Retreat, which functioned as a B&B, teaching /artist studio and gallery. In 2004 Pam and Karen formed Healthy Forest- Happy Potters a 501(c)3 non-profit to promote art and forest restoration. At this time Karen works as a potter and photographer in her studio in Pot Creek. Her pots are available locally at Taos Art Museum, Yart, and in Velarde at Black Mesa Winery.

In addition her work can be found in Grass Valley, Ca at JordanWood and online through Wholesalecrafts.com.
